Statera Capital Expands Origination Team with Addition of Distinguished Litigator and Finance Professional

CHICAGO – Statera Capital, the leading U.S. commercial litigation financing source for mid-sized investments, today announced that Stewart Ackerly has joined the company as Director for Client Engagement, Investment Development, and Public Policy. Stewart will focus primarily on originating investments and otherwise meeting clients’ financing needs. He will also spearhead Statera’s public policy and best practices initiatives, which embody Statera’s leadership role in industry ethics.

Stewart is a distinguished lawyer with unique private and public sector experience. Stewart began his legal career clerking for Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. After his clerkship, he joined Williams & Connolly LLP, one of the world’s preeminent litigation law firms, where he represented Fortune 50 companies, sovereign nations, and other clients in complex commercial litigation. Stewart has also served as Chief of Staff at the United States International Development Finance Corporation, a $60 billion development bank that facilitates financial solutions to critical challenges in emerging markets. Before that role, Stewart served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

Stewart received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Virginia, where he received numerous honors. In law school, he graduated Order of the Coif and served on the Law Review and as the Student Member of the Board of Visitors. He also received the Gray-Carrington Memorial Scholarship, Ernest H. Ern Distinguished Student Award, and Raven Award.
