Richard is an experienced commercial trial attorney, having joined Statera from McGuireWoods LLP. At McGuireWoods, Richard served on the firm’s Board of Partners from 2003 to 2009 and as Managing Partner of the Chicago office from 2004 to 2008. He also served on the firm’s Diversity Committee and led the Chicago commercial litigation practice.

Richard’s practice focused on representing plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation and arbitration proceedings across a broad range of commercial, professional liability, business, healthcare, antitrust, RICO, class actions, shareholder derivative, employment, commercial, and insurance matters. Richard has been recognized in Crain’s Chicago Who’s Who: Chicago Power Brokers, as a Super Lawyer, as a Best Lawyers in America, Leading Lawyers and is A/V rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is also a former member of the Boards of Directors for the Chicago Chamber of Commerce and the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms.

Richard holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and a J.D. from New York University.
